Job Description

The Bariatric Coordinator assists in center development, managing the accreditation process and ensuring continuous compliance with MBSAQIP requirements, maintaining relevant policies and procedures, patient education, outcomes data collection, quality improvement efforts, and education of relevant staff in the various aspects of the metabolic and bariatric surgery patient with a focus on patient safety. The Bariatric Coordinator supports the development of written protocols and education of nurses detailing the rapid communication and basic response to critical vital signs that is specifically required to minimize delays in the diagnosis and treatment of serious adverse events. The Bariatric Coordinator serves as the liaison between the facility and all surgeons performing metabolic and bariatric surgery at the center and any general surgeons providing call coverage.



Qualifications

Regulatory Requirements:

·                    Current Arizona Licensed health care professional (LPN or RN) or Registered Dietitian.

·                    BCLS certificate.

 

Language Skills:

·                    Ability to read and communicate effective in English.

·                    Excellent human relations and interpersonal skills necessary in order to facilitate a multidisciplinary bariatric team, chair meetings, interview & evaluate others, and maintain excellent oral/written communication & organizational skills.  Must be able to deal effectively with physicians and other health care team members when resolving problems/issues.

 

·                    Strong analytical skills necessary to be able to research information, compile statistics, computerized data entry, retrieval, reporting, and be able to provide input into development of policies and procedures, prepare monthly performance improvement reports,  maintain or monitor budgets & expense reports, and so forth.

 

 

 

Skills:

·                    Basic computer knowledge.

·                    Ability to operate various office machines, computers, software packages, and patient therapeutic equipment and/or machines required.
