Job Description

Hospital Collections, Billing, and Follow-up with a better than average expertise.

Collections:  Verifying receipt of claims, ability to status claims, ability to identify internal and external issue/trends.

Follow-Up:  Underpayments, denials, appeals, correspondence, and rebills.

Collections Reports:  Account activity aging, aging reports, and misc reports related to collections.

HBO/ Star Competency:  Adding and deleting insurance plan codes, changing financial classes, adjustment bills, and other functions related to patient accounting.


Demonstrates ability to interact and communicate will all staff (oral and written).  Critical analytical thinking skills with the ability to multi task.  Excellent organization skills.  Extensive understanding and computer knowledgeExcel/Spreadsheets, Word, Microsoft Office.  Ability to perform root cause analysis.  Assist with development of process improvement initiatives.  Completes training for collections staff.  Exceed in identify payer issues and relay information to Leadership.  Prepare spreadsheets and maintain monthly spreadsheets.  Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Two or more years experience in Hospital Business Office operational with supervisory experience preferred.



Regulatory Requirements:

- High school diploma.

- BLS Certification required. The training will be provided upon hire at no expense to the employee.

Minimum Experience:

- Proficient CRT skills; able to type 40-45 wpm; 10-key touch.  Excellent demonstrated organizational skills and ability to interact and communicate effectively with a variety of individuals.  Knowledge of how to read an Explanation of Benefits.

Language Skills:

- Ability to read and communicate effective in English.

- Additional languages preferred


- Basic computer knowledge.

- Customer service
