Job Description

Prepares patients for ultrasound procedures, as ordered by the physician, to obtain high quality scans while providing a safe environment.  Performs ultrasound procedures, as ordered by the physician, to ensure production of quality images for accurate diagnosis in accordance with all applicable safety and regulation standards.  Completes all appropriate documents and hospital records regarding ultrasound procedures in accordance with established policies and procedures and state and federal regulations.  Performs other clerical functions as appropriate.  Maintains continuous and efficient operation of equipment and maintains treatment room in proper order to ensure continuous proper, safe, and efficient operation. 

Qualifications

A.   Minimum Education:    Has verification of successful graduation from an AMA accredited radiology program.

 

B.   Minimum Experience: One year experience in a hospital setting; willing to take call for after-hours work and work flexible shifts.

 

C.   Required Certification/Registration:   Maintains certification with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS); and maintains CPR certification.

 

D.  Other:  Knowledge and understanding of general anatomy, physiology and medical terminology.  Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.  Additional languages preferred.
